Advocacy Tasmania are a community organisation that provides free and independent advocacy services across Tasmania. We exist to support our clients to speak up, have their voice heard and make sure that their rights are protected.
Our advocacy services are for people with a disability, older people, people with mental illness and people who use alcohol or other drugs. We also support people who are impacted by elder abuse and people who are having issues they can’t resolve with the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Advocacy is about supporting you to speak up, have your say and to make sure that your rights are protected. We can help you understand your options, make decisions and access or work with services.
Our advocates support clients to have their voices heard on issues that, due to their age, disability, mental illness or drug use, stop them from exercising their right to choice and control. We also support people with NDIS access, planning, reviews, appeals and complaints.
If a person would like to work with one of our advocates, they can contact our Intake Officer by phone, email or via SMS. Our Intake Officer can also organise for someone to discuss the situation in person and can provide support, information and referral to other services.
